I think im gonna slowly start migrating databases to the junknstuff server as I write pages that can update and manage them. This will just make one less place for something to go wrong. I wish I could also host my pictures here but I have some 1400ish and 1+ Gigabytes, and thats not including the small set. So its not really an option as i only have room for 100MegaBytes on the junknstuff.net server.

I'm in the black again, YAY! Its friday, YAY! goin to Eugene for the weekend, YAY. Visited with my Dad last night, YAY! Paid phone bill, BOO! Paid Bank fees from over drafts, BOOO! I think my laptop may have died on me too. it worked last night when i went to bed and now this morning it wont come on at all. And that screw I lost is now free ratteling around in there. So once I get home its comming a part again...

1:25pm: Crap. I am so over drawn on my bank account. good thing i get paid tomorrow and taxes back soon too. i have $23 until then. Come midnight i should be on the level again.

2:02pm: and my laptop started workin again. Got home and it turned right on. i also recovered that screw and put it in its place, I think....

3:26pm: my laptop seems to be down 1 memory bank so only the 256MB SoDimm is working. and when i swithced it with the 128 it was the only one working. So ya im down a little bit of memory. Its sooo time for a powerbook. Damn i need a new job so i can get one...

The brief case is approching readyness to take on the task/s that molly currently has. I still have to make a few decisions involing layout of the filesystem inrelation to the webpages and pictures etc. Transfering databases and files and shit like that. You folks out there may or may not notice a diffrence but I sure as hell will. Then I must find a new job for that sad little laptop that does the serving now. any ideas? preferably something kinda geeky, somewhat useful, kinda fun etc.

I may be heading up to Seatlle towards the end of March with Tiffany and a couple of her friends. That should be fun if it all works out. Hopefuly the weather will be decent and such for lots of picture taking and wandering about.

So its taken me for like ever to write this post cuase i keep getting up to do work and stuff so i think i will be done for now.

1:00pm: Databases moved. Can ya tell? didn't think so. But now the movies list loads from the new server. Eventualy from the junknstuff server but I have more code to write before that happens.... Thats one public service down. I've already done samba and dhcp. I just have to figure out how i want to setup apache. I'm going for a clean setup this time around, last time things were kinda sloppy as i just wanted shit working again. It worked fine that way for 8 months for that matter but the mess was starting to bug me.

2:00pm: I need to limmit my projects cause i started putting quotes in a DB table and have yet to make code that will add too it and or pull it out. Not tomention finishing the movies page and other pages... Man im a slacker...

4:25pm: Got the pictures and crap moved. Still have some other files to move.... I think it will be live by the end of the evening.

6:37pm: crap. Well its up but not seeming to be very happy serving the out side world webpages. I'm workin on it...

Job hunting sucks ass. I doubt it helps that I'm slightly picky about it too. I want computer related work. Something technical, not clerical. The problem is
1) I only have one year work experince and thats what the look at, i have many more years of play and hobbie experince, which makes it difficult to look qualified.
2) not a whole lot of them out there
3) short essay type questions to apply for a job, kind of a pain.
4) not knowing anyone on the inside for a little bit of help. (IE how i got this job)

but i do have an offer to work for a local shop part time doing hardware and software. I have yet to decide if i want to take this type of possition as
1) Hours will not be set
2) I dont actually need the money
3) Take away from my free time and potentialy my weekends
4) Having to work with people that I would find frustrating and or annoying on many levels
5) Having to deal with the public/customers with computer problems.

but there are good parts too like
1) extra money
2) looks good on reume

Still thinkin on it. but as we can see the bad out weighs the good. but the good could be weighted more heavily.

8:56pm: Briefcase is now functional. I may start the switch over tomorrow sometime. Still lots of configureation to be done but im about to start on that portion of the task now.

Ok I may have fixed my laptop again. For a while at least. Yesterday was beatutiful. Went for a nice long walk, about 3.22 miles of a walk. I took my GPS so i wouldn't get lost as i'm not real familar with the area around Tiffany's place. But i saw some of the Neatest places, and some of the prettyiest places up on the hills out there.

9:23am: Blehahhh. Tired. Gonna go home. See if i really did fix my laptop, maybe. Check e-mail and think about the new job thing. Then take a nap. Get up maybe do sometihng about the new job thing or work on the movies page, or that other project that I havent worked on in a week or so.

Alright now can i have everyones attention. It seems Kala is scheulded to be going under the knife sometime soon for something, what i don't know, nor does it matter much. I saw The Hot Chick last night. Started out pretty stupid but got better i promise. Pretty funny too. I will add it and other to my database sometime after i get home... So maybe tonight but morelikely monday sometime.

I'm getting bad at packing, well maybe im juts rushing my self on fridays before we leave cause last week i forgot stuff, this week i forgot deodernt. luckly i havent stunk yet, well not too badly if i have.

My laptop is currently in pieces at home waiting for me to figure out how to fix it and fix it good this time. I sooo can't wait for my taxes back so I can put some real money towards my future powerbook... yes I have changed my mind from iBook to a powerbook. The main reason i was going to go with ibook was cost. but if im gonna finance it anyways lets go all out. unless someone wants to give me a powerbook or an ibook which i doubt... mmm powerbook.

3:12pm: Got a call from Kala. Missed it. by like seconds. Tried to call back but no answer. Got the voice mail from her. She not sounding so Kala like. It told me to check my e-mail. Checked my e-mail and something is going on and I don't know what. I just hope things are ok and or turn out ok for her. If anyone can enlighten me e-mail me.

I WAS SOO CLOSE. So close to having my self a 15inch powerbook yesterday. Now since i was soo close I want one even more so now. Just more modivation. Also my sony laptop is fuckin up worse than ever with its power issue which is another modivating factor.

gonna go to the UO art gallery today. and see the work of someone thats in on of Tiffany's classes. That should be fun.

I've heard birdies chriping the last couple mornings on my way to work. A sure sign of spring being near and or rolling around the corner. So flowers blooming and trees seeming to wake up and begin to bloom and smells in the air. And being in Oregon plenty of rain too I'm sure.

That briefcase computer is really starting to be a torn in my side. I'm guessing I've spent entirely too long tring to get that thing going. I have a couple more tricks up my sleve but then I'm out of ideas, and will have to tear in to it and actualy open it up and do things the old fassioned way, some voodoo, a sacrafice of some sort, a floopy disk, some CDs, a defibulator, some rope, leprechan, and a hammer. Then I just might be able to get it to work.

Planning on seeing Henry Rollins Spoken Word Tour in eugene next month. That should be fun. I've seen some of his spoken word stuff on the television and loved it. Now i just have to get Friday the 7th off...

Had a semi bad dream last night. I think i was back in highschool getting ready for the 1st day back or something. It was disturbing at miniumn. Glad to be awake for once.

Dave has been teaching the last couple days here. He's great to talk to. He also has started to pick my brain about a neat project/development that might be going down and if I play my cards right I maybe able to get in on this and get some money/expernice from it.

Stupid briefcase didn't want to cooperate with me. It got close to working then fucked up on me all at the end. I was sooo close. I got some other ideas of how to deal with it but all of which will require more effort and time... oh well. Something has to eventualy work. right?

4:31pm: Nearly had the briefcase workin. But then one lousy service wouldnt work like it was supposed to. Everything else execpt that one lousy thing. It was partly working but if its not 100% good after an install its not good enough. So I'm installing via another method... and i just turned around to find another problem. time to try yet another time.. this is getting so damn old.

Got a call from Collyn last night, talked for a while, i forget how long. That was nice. Something we don't get to do as often anymore as we are both kinda busy and some circumstances have changed... But it was damn good to talk to her again..

Today i setup the brifecase to have it ready to replace molly. I doubt most of the world will notice much of a change but i sure as hell will. Faster making of the thumbnails for the pictures section and modifying of files for stuff like that. Not to mention I can actualy put everything in someplace that makes sence rather than skattered about such as things are now.

While i do that I will prolly work on and finish up a cover letter and send it off tomorrow or fax it..... Then start on the next cover letter...

3:58pm: Fuckin crap. This network booting thing isnt quite workin out. I think the new HD has issues or something along those lines as everything else seems to be in order and seems to work except for that whole formating thing.

5:11pm: no progess really. Thinking of ways to do it but I dont think there is going to be a simple one. Well they are simple but annoying, as I would have to take the brifecase apart to do any of them really. Unless one other idea works which will take several hours to just get the ISOs. So it may off to Chris' place sometime with the case and a buncha CDs to do it the old fassioned way. With a cdrom. maybe even a floppy drive... I am thinking about tring RH 8 just to see if that will fly...

Kinda wish i was home so i could work on stuff. But im still having a good time here.

I'm nearly finished with my book. I expect to finish with in a few days. I'd prolly be done long ago if I was a faster reader but I'm a little slow when it comes to reading. I blame the fact that I never did it in school when it could be avovided and that i never read for pleasure then. Just enough is what i did. and you could even argue that it wasnt enough as i never did the reuqired readings for classes or anything of that sort reall. but somehow still managed to pass all my classes, with exception of the 2nd term of Inductive Geomerty.

I had some damn good food at a damn neat resturant here in Eugene.
Then we came back here to Tiffany's place and just watched movies. Neither of us were too keen on waiting hours inline to get food. Which if we hadnt been early to the resturant we would have had to wait and hour to and hour and a half to get seated. And going out to see a movie of any quality would have also most likely proven to be fruitless or at least very tring. But we had some good food and a nice night in.

So tired... Seriously. I want to crawl under my desk and take a nap George Castanza style. Bu't its not really an option. As i don't have an office of my own just a cube. I think I will just sleep for part of trip to Eugene. Unless of course Tiffany has me drive.

So the brief case is moving along. Its ram has been doubled to 256MB of ram and the harddrive is failing but thats easily remedied just takes some time for the new drive to show up. Then its a matter of installing and configuring crap. Moving pictures, databases, webpages, and other files is after that part. Its almost a shame to be using the breifcase as a dedicated server and not taking it around or having it be more fun... Maybe I will look into something else as a server

Whoohohooo. I just setup diskless booting. No need to have a floppy or cdrom to upgrade my briefcase's OS. Its currentl Redhat 7.2 or 7.1 and I am gonna make it 7.3 here soon. but the harddrive in it is flakey at best and needs to be RMAed (returned)... I think its kinda cool. Maybe i can drop in another drive for the time being.. but i'd have to find or modifiy the case to take a laptop harddrive.

Have to finish up stuff on my room. and then go back to work for some stupid work stuff that wont take long. then buy a belt for going out to dinner with Tiffany tomorrow and maybe something kinda cheesey for her, a card or something....

So I'm making my rounds on the internet thismorning and i come across this little gem, The Dell guy, Steven, busted for pot. Perhaps Dell will drop those adds now or at least him so no more god awful ads with him are made.

computer still not fixed. Well it might be I'm just not in possetion of it right now. It's at chris' place it might still be copying crap back to it. 8:01pm: Got my computer back home safe and sound and i think its happy as a clam. Its been home most of the day really ive just been doin other stuff. I did manage to scan my last piece of acadmic work of any kind from Highschool and make a nifty PDF out of it. Its my research paper from my senior project. Shall i post it?

Also i was cleaning out some dark ressess of my stuff and found an omni from 1990 as well as some popular scicenes from 1993, I was 11 at that time. There may have been older stuff but i didnt look real close. Damn im a geek.

Anyone want to write a cover letter for me?? anyone. anyone? guess not. I don't even want to write one. I've already got it started just need to figure out what to say and put in it. Then find 3 professional refrences. I got 1 taken care of so im a thrid of the way there on that part. I got 10 days to do it so im not too rushed but still kinda rushed, as i dont want to wait til last second.

Gonna take my sick computer to Chris' place today/this evening and take care of it. Shouldnt take to long as we know the problem and how we are gonna fix it. And prolly gonna end up working on the briefcase and honey all at the same time so it could turn out to be fun or at least interesting. Hopefuly get a couple new things setup and going. And Tiffany will be coming up for the evening as well to use my computer for her midterm critique thingy for her photography class. She could use hers but mine aside from being sick (which it wont be for long) is slightly better configured for the type of stuff she will be doing.

This is my 201st post. Sinice using moveable type prior to that i did a bunch of entrys with Graymatter, and previous to that i had my own pathetic slef scripted perl/.plan solution with html chuncks in it... Now i know PHP is the way for me. Perl is great but i havent the paticents to learn it.

This is the last week of the evil IBM courses where some stupid guy keep showing up between 7 and 7:15am.. classes dont start til 8:30. I'm not even due to arrive til 7 but am usualy early. But it bugs me that he has no life and is here that early cause hes in my world im used to having this place to my self for a half hour or so and not worring about students showing up while i change drives or setup for a class. I don't think hes the brightest crayon in the box either.

I got a couple new toys last week and havent got to play with them much. I feel almost as if i am negleting them.... I will do something about that later today or this week.

7:03pm: bring the pain. my dad just called and said hes got my doctor bill from when i had strep a little more than a month a go. There goes another hundred or so bucks....

Whoa. I remember weekends sometimes taking eons to pass. Now they seem to fly by all to quickly. but you know what they say about time flying.. I'm glad they are flying by cause really who doesnt like having fun and enjoying their company etc. It does pretty much put a halt on productivity for projects that I might have going but again its not like im getting paid for them or they are time sensetive. I did manage to get a tiny tiny bit of work done today for my self. but its by no means done as i dont have everything I need to do it here (yet)...

I think im going to get a decent ammout of reading done in the next couple days, which is pretty neat. So now I can be more productive while in Eugene for the weekends for a couple weeks anyways. My Ornico 802.11b Card is due to arrive today. And last night I got a neat new scanner. I'd been meaning to get a scanner for a while ya see. Cause I got some old pics to scann and other times it would have just been plain handy. So thats one more thing to add to my digital/computer aresonal. So possibly look for more random stuff and maybe some of my black and white photos online somtime soon...

Had bunches of strange little dreams last night. Kala was in a couple of them. The guy that used to have my current job was in one of them. I dont remember much other than that. Neither were bad dreams by any strech just a little weird.

Went over to Chris' place last night and we watched the BMW films these also attributed to Chris wanting to get a his car. Not to mention the movie the Transporter. We did intend to watch a real movie too but John showed up kinda late and so we just finished up the BMW flicks before tiffany and I left.

Tired. And glad tomorrow is friday. Today gonna go home and take the shower i skipped when i got up cause I felt like sleeping 10 extra min. Cause I didn't sleep so well. Then maybe a nap or read something to kill some time. Then Tiffany shows up sometime and we kill some time before I have to head back into work for all of a half hour around 4:30pm. Then Who knows from there.

I want my new wireless card damnit. Stupid slow ass UPS... Package has left HODGKINS, IL, US on the 4th and hasnt been seen since then. It could still show up on time (tomorrow) I've learned not to trust UPS for a damn. However the USPS did get my book to me quite early. It was expected tomorrow as well but i got it monday. So i guess it all works out

Had some strange fun weird dreams last night. Not a bad nights sleep but not the best I've had either. Some tossing, some turning, some sleeping, some dreaming, some laying awake, some tring to get comfphy. but not too bad.

Got a book to read. Got some coding to do, which is moving along rather well i think. Once I finish my current coding project I can start on updating and makeing new pages for around here. PHP is much fun, as is MySQL. I'm thinking about redoing the quotes and links pages 1st. Then maybe add something that will allow for more user interaction/participation.

Got the William Gibson book today. I got all sorts of crap to keep me busy. But I've been napping all after noon. heh lots of stuff todo but the least involoved of them seems to be the best idea. Kinda strange how things work out like that sometimes....

I like my new watch. Apperntly Caleb (Tiffany's) cat does too. When we woke up it wasn't on the night stand anymore it was at the foot of the bed and I sorta felt it there with my foot and kicked it off with out knowing what it was. But when i looked to the night stand to see my watch i didnt see it and then thought it must have been what i kicked off the bed. sure enough it was.
