Too much game.

It's 2:30 in the AM. I went to the bank which is about 2 blocks away. And checked email. Other than it's been San Andreas all day/night. I know Nathan planned on staying up late and playing.

Portland sounds like a no cause everyone else bailed. So that means more GTA SA for me tomorrow.

A nice day for a drive... TO THE BANK!

ok since i have all night to play the game I will make an attempt at a decent post.

Monday is sink or swim on the phones at work. I think i figured most of the tools out well enough to doggy paddle for a while. If not thats ok they expect us to doggy paddle for a while. I'm just gonnahave to get the call flow part down. You know asking the important questions like who are you and why are you calling me.

I got paid today. A decent sum. I wasn't expecting, because i didn't bother to do any math before getting the check, as much as I got. So tomorrow I'm most likely gonna order a thing or 2 for my self or car. Like the BMW moblity kit that includes a tire pump and some fix a flat stuff in a nifty little BMW bag.

Still haven't decided on Portland. gotta find out when, where, who and what. I know Mina and Cat will be there and of course Mike and his girly.

My next camera is going to be a Canon 300d Digital Rebel.

Fantasic Game

Seriously It's a great game. Get it.

Currently I'm stuck because it's a hard game.

I'm a little more than 5% done says the game.

Time to play more.

game time starts after work.

I'm gonna be busy for a while playing GTA SA. I'm going to try to keep posting but I might not because it might interupt game play.

Game On!

Nina got a Bath.

Washed my car today. It had been something like a month or so since I last did it. The weather had been crap much of the time, today was just cold. I also got the Black again out to darken/blacken up the black trim pieces. I need to wax it again once I can. I also need to a) find a new wax b) put a few coats of wax on c) use a sealer like zaino rather than a wax. Between the weather and early sunsets I'm not counting on being able to do much about that soon.

So around 4pm the party started at work today. Free drinks for all over 21 (just 2 drinks though) and free food. Never have I worked at a place that would even think of letting you drink on campus(well i worked at the state but thehy dont do that really anymore) let alone sponsor it.

No GAT SA for me. I didn't check more than 1 place but I didn't see it. Plus I gotta play hit and run some more on my X-box.

I'm lazy. So rather than restyling it by hand i got one that was close on its own. from MoveableStyle.

meh

Got home after a day of listening to calls, cause they couldn't get stuff working to teach us the tools we would need, did a little coding, played star craft, did some more coding, typing this now.

Tomorrow I will most likely start a quest for GTA SA. Lets see if there is anything to this pre-order crap. If so I'm outaluck, if not I'm out 50bucks. But it's $50 I would be out once I could get my hands on it anyways so it's ok.

My newest wired showed up today. Not like I've hardly read the last several for reason of lazy and busy and lack of interst. Perhaps that will change as it gets colder and I am less likely to want to go out side and places or out from under the covers etc. This issue features a CD with 16 songs under some Radical new Copyright License. the CD has some beastie boys, Chuck D, Thievery Corporation, David Byrne and some others that I haven't heard of.

Posted by Ben at 07:46 PM
Not learning anything yet.

Been in class for an hour now. Haven't done anything because they never got logons for the tools we need. So we have all been sitting here surfing.

I can't ssh into badcommand from here so I can't work on much on the server side or anything good like that. But I have taken to sending my self SQL Querys and code snippets in email.

I'm gonna find something else to do for now.

Laundry and CDs

Went to Tiff's parents place to do laundry on the way back we stoped at CD world and bought some CDs. I got System of a Dwon, Bad Religion, and repurchased an Adam Sandler CD.

I'm slowly working on a page/script for me to see some more specific info from log files.

Tomorrow starts the last week of training.

Really Early X-mas

Tiffany got my gift and gave it to me already. It's an X-box. I've already ordered the mod-chip for it to set it up to do much more than it already does. Much like Chris' x-box that plays any DVD and MP3s, Videos from the network and lets him copy games to the HD. So once that shows up it will be a trip to portland for x-moding at Whitey's. So maybe a train trip next weekend with Camera(s) and Xbox in haul? Maybe I will just drive up. I dunno.

Now to get paid a couple times so I can get Tiffany her gift.

Posted by Ben at 10:00 PM
Goneness.

Tiffany earlier this afternoon. I think she went to go buy things. Maybe even my X-mas gift. She isn't back yet. She also got herself Photoshop for her Powerbook today. I drooled over some of the new and used power books at the Mac Store. I'm seriously considering using the computer purchase program at work to get one.

I'm gonna need to get out of town one of these weekends. I'm getting quite bored in town. Perhaps a trip to Portland, or the Coast is in order in the coming weeks. Maybe take the train up to Portland for a change and wonder downtown with camera(s).

Tiffany just got home and I am banished to the den until she gets my gift wraped. Well I can come out now cause she closed the door to the bedroom where she is doing the wraping. But now that I'm in here why leave.

Movies, Games, Books, nothing to do.

I bought Sneakers and Wayne's world last night. I guess I got a thing for movies made/released in 1992.

Now to figure out what to for the weekend. We had talked about going to Portland but we got laundry tomorrow. So Chris will have to wait to get his DVDs and the book he wants to borrow. But he will most likely be down sometime this coming week.

The newest of the Grand Teft Auto games is also coming out sometime this coming week. I don't pre-order games so I will go and see if I can buy it the day it comes out if not I will wait.

Heart break

Nathan and his wife have recived some news regarding their little girl. The news isn't good. It's not nessiarly bad but that will be determined as she grows up.

I can't imagine what they are going through. I know my heart aches for them. I've seen how much Nathan and Lauren love Nadia. I saw how excited Nathan was when he found out and through the pregnancy. It breaks my heart to know they have to deal with this.

I'm done.

Stupid Beta.

So I'm on the Game Advisory Pannel for Sony. How I got on this Pannel I have no idea. But it means they send me beta copys of games to test. Well the newest one ,i don't know I can mention the name or not, doesn't work for crap. It looks like fun. Robots blowing the crap out of eachother in urban areas via PS2 network adapter and stuff. So I try to play won't work. Turns out this particular game wanted me to open a couple ports on my router/firewall for it where the other games I've played online worked perfectly out of the box. I spent about an hour fussing with it and said screwit. If it's not gonna work even after doing what they say I don't care and they will find out when it comes survey time.

That is all.

Follow up.

Put me on the shortbus cause this is my 4th attempt at this entry. I keep doing things like closing the tab I'm making the entry in thus having to start all over again. It's annoying too. If I don't get it this time you will never know.

My gift subscription went to Kat who was in attendance of the meetup last night. But She didn't get until today cause she didn't know about it last night as I doubt most poeple did.

So I'm gonna try the list of people who were there one more time (this is where I keep screwing up.)

Michael of FollowingEdge who got the whole thing together.
Tom of Printisdead.net.
Richard of Floating atoll.
Dave of fluffygerbil.com.
Sleeve of Made Explicit...The Blog Of Sleeve.
Kat of schoolgirlsophistry.com.
Kinsey of Tvindy.
Zeb of KillPoets.
Corna of Coronahats.net.

I think that was everyone.

Meetups

In about an hour I'm gonna be on my way to the meetup still debating on wether or not I want to take my laptop. But I do plan on stoping by the bank first so I can have money for a hot-chocolate or something while at Theo's (a coffee place).

Nathan needs a way to deal with a large racoon that is being a problem that his wife will let him get away with. I say we camp out in his yard one right and wait for the racoon then do something. I have no idea what, but something damnit.

I still have a subscription to Wired to give if you want it let me know.

Bueller...Bueller...Bueller

On a training break. Learning a tool or method of trouble shooting. I'd rather be shot the current instructor has nearly knocked the whole group out from bordom. I'd rather have Ben Stein from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, at least had questions.

A gift to give.

My favorite magazine, Wired, is offering a free subscription to give as a gift if I renew mine. The thing is the peopel I know who like it already got it and the rest wouldn't want it. So if you are interested let me know and the free subscription may be yours, if you are the first or only one.

I bought another CD with Amazon last night. It had been on my wish list for a while and well I haven't seen it in regular stores so I clicked and it's on it's way, yay.

Tomorrow eveningish I plan to attend this meetup for Eugene area webblogger people organized by Michael. I'm in eugene and I was invited so last night I sent an email saying I plan to be there. I've met a few people in realife after talking to them online a few times but never more than one at a time in a such a manner, should be interesting. And by interesting I mean scary.

Newism

My new CDs showed up The Prodigy CD is really good if you ask me, but thats if your into big beats, and faster tempo stuff. The Prodigy have diversified in ther vocal stylings thats for sure. The beasties Is good too but I already knew it cause I had helped my self to a full free sample from Chris a while back and dug on it then so I bought it.

Got my last Stream check. It's gonn have to hold me over until the 29th when I get paid from my new job.

Wow it's kinda nice to hang out in the den/office area now that we got it all cleaned up.

Rearanged the Den today. Moved stuff around. Also Tiffany's desk is gone, well it's on the front porch anybody want it? We don't.

Upgraded the badcommand.net/silverpixels.net/ihatecancer.org server. So if anybody noticed stuff not working right that was why. Sorry.

I'm a PDF says this quiz thingy. see You are .pdf No matter where you go you look the same. You are an acrobat. Nothing is more important to you than the printed word.
Which File Extension are You?

Perhaps I will spend more time in the den again?

I lpve my new stereo

Posted by Ben at 06:09 PM
Sunday, Rainy Sunday.

I had a great rant in mind yesterday for a post. But I forgot it so you get the normal rambelings and BS.

Anyways I got my sweet sweet Alpine installed. Illumination colors can change so now all the buttons match the dash color of my car the screen does not match but thats ok by me and if you saw it it would be ok by you.

So I didn't get my car back until around 5:30 cause we went to Tiffany's parents place for a while to see family, say happy bday to people and see the puppies. Had it been much much earlier I might have made it to Nathan's. He claims he has fixed it so hopefuly it wasn't to hard and he didn't shed too much blood or tears over the whole ordeal.

It's a shame tomorrow is Monday. Then I have to figure out whether to go to class and get trained or HR orentation which the did schudule us for both events. So someone fucked up someplace and it wasn't me this time.

It's raining.

Goodbye automotive silence.

Right now my car is at good guys. The stereo might even be being installed right now but within the next few hours it should be done says James. I'm quite excited to have a stereo again. Maybe I will even take the face off it for more than a couple months after I get it. Maybe not.

Later this afternoon/evening we will most likely be heading out to Tiffany's parents place for October B-day's and see small puppies. And deliver a repaired laptop.

And Dell seems to have flip  floped on the whole spyware/adware things.

I done voted.

I got my ballot in the mail yesterday. I voted. I'm not sure I made the most informed decisions cause well I'm too lazy to get the voters guide thingy out and read who is about what. So I just voted for Democrats and said no to most of the ammendments to the Oregon Consistution. And why do I have to put a damn stamp on the ballot? When I subscribe to a magaizne its free to send in my subscription stuff.

No word from good guys yet. Which could just mean the truck isn't there yet. Maybe I will hang out in a near by parking lot and pretend to be a stocker or on a steakout. I've gone a month now with no tunage in my car. I don't like it.

Putting things together.

Stopped by good guys. They are not sure because something funny in the computer that some of the vertrans had never seen before. Anyways James is gonna call when the truck gets in and check the packing list to see if its there. Apprently my deck is hard to come by because of the Bio Lite Display.

I put Tiffany's Mom's Laptop back together with its new part. I think its all fixed and most of the screws are in the right places. It boots, it found my wireless card (cause I can't seem to find the one that it came to me witih). So Tiffany will also most likely take that back with her tomrrow when she goes to the October B-day thing and to see the new puppies.

Tomorrow I'm gonna hope to get my Stereo installed and or help Nathan with his thermostat problem.

Learning Learning Learning.

More training. More info stuffed in my head that I hope to be able to retrive later when I need it. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday.

I ordered the new Prodigy CD and the new Beastie Boys CD this morning before work. But they won't be here for a while but thats ok cause the earliest I will get a Stereo installed is this weekend and maybe not even then if the damn thing doesn't show up.

Tomorrow I may check in with Good Guys to see if my shit is gonna be here...

I think I saw an Alpina M3 today. Or at least a highly customized 3 series. had the LTW flag stuff on it and M3 moldings and font bumper, the rear tiers looked pretty damn wide too.

3rd day down.

I learned some about active directory today and how to set it up. It's not something that is going to be critial to our job functions but to know what it is and how it works will be nessary. Did I mention our training manual is about the size of a dictionary?

Nathan broke his truck. So I'm gonna see if I can get over there this weekend and attempt to help him with that. But my Stereo is alegedly getting installed this weekend if it shows up in time.

Gonna watch tonights debate. See how that goes. But in the mean time I might get a snack or something.

Tomorrow or friday I'm gotta wash my car and maybe wax it again.

Day 2 of training complete.

I want to thank everyone who helped and provided moral support to me while I was looking for work. Even though I never went unemployed things were iffy for a while. I got a few comments and emails from other bloggers and even just visitors. I'd really like to thank Nathan and Rob for the refferals and Sandy too.

Today was day 2 of training. We wizzed throuhg windows 2k and xp and tomorrow we get a crash course in Active Directory, something that they could take up 2 weeks on easy. I know some of the AD stuff but tomorrow I will know a lot more.

We got out around 4pm today so I managed to get to BMW parts deptartment and get the part I need so that James can install my stereo once that thing gets here. I may stop by there later this week... The part looks bigger than the area it has to fit but I'm sure it just looks bigger. And hopefuly james can put it in too.

Commnet Spammed to hell.

So much spam comments today. Spammed to hell and back. Someplace around 100 or more. I eventaly resorted to SQL commands and Querys to wipe the comments from the DB cause i spent far too long manualy clearing them out with MT.

But today was my 1st day of training at work. Training will take about 3 weeks total. Today we covered a buncha NT stuff and what makes it diffrent from the crapier ones like 95, 98 and ME.

I've finaly made another update to the techblog. I think i need to expand on that section and add more stuff to it, maybe not. I dunno.

I also got another showme posted, thanks to Mick.

Tomorrow I start my new job. Kinda nervous.

I think I want a new CD, Book, DVD something. But I'm too indecisive to pick something so I most likely won't get something.

I think im getting a cold.

UpdatE: Tiffany got another Fishy today. And last night we had to move fishy one away from where the Caleb Cat could get to him.... I kinda want to setup a lighting thing for the fishys and a web cam. and by lighting thing I mean internet controled multi Color LEDs. But I lack the tools and know how right now for the lighting thing.

Here is what Tiffany and I did with the left overs from the digital picture frame we made for her parents. Nothing too exciting but fun.

Spent most of the day at Tiffany's parents' place while Tiffany did laundry. There were couple of rugrats running around making me not like kids and then more and more of the family came including Tiff's cousin with her annoying boyfriend. Seriously who the hell names someone Merlin.

New Chapter

Just about 30 min ago a chapter of my professional life ended. Monday a new one begins.

Today I and many others will finish up at Stream. Many don't have new jobs lined up and will take a small vacation at the States expense. Some will move on to jobs at a couple other call centers around town. I'm not going to say this was my favorite place to work or even the worst. I will say it was a good experince to work with some of the people I worked with and I made some good friends along the way. It's time to move on. I feel the end of Stream in Eugene is a good thing in the long run for most everybody involved. For my brothers and sisters on the phones i wish you the best of luck in wherever or whatever you end up doing.

that is all.

Eugene...

I grew up in Salem. I used to think Salem was pretty lame. I moved to Eugene at the end of the Summer in 2003 for a job.

I want to go do something sorta touristy. Something with history and maybe a tour. Tiffany told me of some house a while back I forget and can't ask her cause shes still at work. But I realized I know nothing of the city I live in right now. Other than some guy Named Eugne Skinner founded it.

Salem I knew all sorts of stuff about. Chemawa (sp?) indianas. The former name was Chemeketa. Have some historic stuff the capitol burnt to the ground once and Mission Mill the Gilbert House (takings its name from former Olymic Gold metalist and inventor of the Erector set who was born in Salem.) And the Stern Wheeler. I'm gonna stop there.

Now Eugene has a College and um. That house. What is the historical significance of Eugene? Did it orignaly come with indians that have nearly vanished? Was there big industry and shipping? Where can I go for info of the origins and coming to be of Eugene?

Part-ly good news.

Stopped by the BMW dealership after work. Found my part within 4 min of being there and got it ordered for Saturday deliveryand paid all of $6.something for the part. Thats the good news.

Then I stoped by Good Guys. Talked to James. Showed him the damage. Told him about the part that should show up Saturday. It turns out my damn Alpine is backordered and should really be gettings here closer to the 16th. Thats the bad news.

I got off the phone for a while to today to help one of the IT guys break down a computer lab/Training room. That was cool.

Posted by Ben at 05:24 PM
More Part Problems.

So Tiffany went to the wrecking yard to checkout another e36 for the part. It didn't want to be removed or couldn't be. So far the speculation is its part of the dash. Even though I found a pic of a dash with out it but it may be part of something that needed more work to get it out. So after work it's off to the dealership to ask some questions and maybe goodguys to ask James some questions. And maybe even a couple calls to insurance and the shop to say shit still isn't fixed right and the wrong part was ordered.

Posted by Ben at 09:56 AM
Oops I over selpt

I apprently forgot to set my alarm last night. So I forgot to wake up on time this morning. I woke up at 6:46am said thats a problem. Tiffany was awake engouh to say "whats that?". I said something to the effect of over slept. She offered a ride. I grabbed a couple breakfast bars after getting dressed. I made it to work with some time to spare. No shower though. Maybe I will do that at lunch time or somethin.

Not the right part.

It is most definfalty the wrong damn part. I'm quite pissed and annoyed. So now I'm gonna see if i can hunt down the proper part tomorrow via , BMW-Forums and or going to BMW and seeing if can get the thing overnighted to me to be here by Saturday.

Friggin pissed i tell you.

Posted by Ben at 07:08 PM
Let the Layoffs Commence.

Tomorrow the personnel source people get booted around noon. Then its just the full time Stream people left. Gonna be sadish to see people I know leaving/gone.

I just got the part for my car. I'm not sure it's what I need cause it says E34 on it not E36. The E34 is an older 5 series. But it might work. Maybe I will take it to James at Good Guys and see if everything needed is there and if not have him order the right parts and just pay for them/it.

I got my 512MB Ultra II memory stick from SanDisk and it seems to be faster so far. So now my tiny 2MP camera gets my 256Pro Mem Stick and my 5MP Camera gets the 512. Now I can take about a million pictures. Ok maybe not that much but a hell of a lot more than I could be for or both cameras.

Posted by Ben at 05:04 PM
Slug Speed

Today is taking forever. Seriously its like 10 or more minutes between calls and boring as hell. And most of the calls I get the customer is in the wrong place and has no idea why I can't help with the problem they are not having with our product. They sooo stupid.

After work I get my dash part, if it has infact come in as the shop told me yesterday. Then I wait wait wait and hope my newish changer cable from Ebay shows up before Saturday so I don't have to make more trips to get stuff installed and worked out at good guys.

I think my super memory stick for my camera shows up today too.

Parts

Just called the place that was doin the work on my car and the part will be in tomorrow ish. Apprently it was back ordered or somecrap. I don't know how that works out but hey it shows up tomorrow. Then Perhaps I or James our favorite installer at good guys installs it when he does the stereo on Saturday. Then my car will be ready for me to drive to my new job monday with new tunage install and ready to rock.

The last few days of work has become extreamly slow and tiresome. Long streches between calls, normaly this wouldn't have been a problem but there isn't anyone really near enough to talk to while I'm not on a call.

3 More days until I get paid for another 2 weeks of work. Then in another 2 weeks I get a weeks worth of sepperation pay.

I got a smallish binder/planner with a membership card, pen, CD storage and memory card storage and paper from Game Advisory Pannel as I'm an offical member and get to beta test games for them.

Spending Lashback.

So now that I have a new job and am permitted to purchase items again I've had my eye on a new webenabled device for me to geek around with. I'd use it as the offical badcommand.net email server. Even though badcommand.net doesn't do much right now.

Also Chris may have gotten him self a Tivo yesterday. That means more Hacktastic fun and more TV show to download and more work for our girl honey to do. Perhaps one day I will get my self a Tivo and cable.

Steve can kiss it.

Steve Balmer can kiss my ass.

We’ve had DRM in Windows for years. The most common format of music on an iPod is 'stolen'.

All the music on Tiffany's Ipod is legit. Either I ripped the CD my self for her or she bought it on the Itunes music store which has some lovely DRM. I also think apple provides better control over the DRM.

He is just upset his company is not in the Music scene like Apple is. I wonder if MS even thought of an online music store like iTunes before Apple launced it. It's really kinda sad how MS throws little fits everytime they are not on top. Let us not forget Jobs told MS they might consider making WM files play on the ipod if they got 50% of the music store share. Basicaly told to screw off and now MS crys and says theifs.

REFUCKINDICULOUS.

Annoying when.

I got off work presiely at four-o-clock pm, ya right. Saw around 10 bimmers on my way home. Got within a couple blocks of home and noticed I didn't have my damn keys. So I had to turn around and go clear back to work to get my keys. I just gotta say it was annoying that I forgot my keys.

Tomorrow is the last tuesday of work.

Still no word from car place about my dash parts. No more word from insurance lady since I left the message saying that I never got the part.

Tiff's Speakers pt. 2.

Tiffany's new speakers sound loads better than the crap toyota ones that were installed previously.

We also had to do laundry here and feed the laundry machines here cause the Corvalis thing didn't work out and her paren'ts laundry machines seem to be broken.

Tomorrow is last monday of operation for the place I currently work.

We found a new changer cable on ebay and ordered so hopefuly it will get here before Saturday so it can go in with my new stereo.

Tiff's speakers.

Tiffany's is getting speakers installed today. Some Nice infinity Kappas all around. So she will have 2 better speakers than me. Thats ok for now. She had also listened to some german made MB Quartz but those were a bit bright for her liking which wasn't a bit of a suprise to me.

Insurance lady called and asked if my car was done yet. I called back and left a message telling her I still don't have the dash part they were waiting on. Hopefuly it shows soon cause any delay caused by anyone thats not me or the installer is not ok with me. The people I've talked to at the shop say I will like my new HU and the display is great. The main reason i went with the 9835 is the display looked bette rthan the 9833 and lower. I took a look at them and decided to pay for for something I will be able look at and not think "damn I wish i got the better one cause this display sucks" which I sorta did with my 9811 compared to Tiffanys 9813 with a bigger display and better amp.

I played with Ubunto linux on my old sony laptop. Good stuff. The new Gnome is great. I couldn't get the res above 640x480 so I quit after I couldn't see/use all the config programs in gnome. I may have to play with it more later.

Site changes and stuff.

After consulting with Dusty I made a couple changes to the stlye sheet to see if takes care of the link color problem.

It's laundry weekend. Tiffany wants to do the laundry in Corvalis so she can vist with a couple of her friends while she does it. Rather than visiting with her jobless aunt who now lives at her parents place. So far her friends in Corvalis suck and won't pick up the phone are are MIA.

It's a nice day out though. Perhaps a good day to break out the webber again and grill something up while we still have some nice weather to do so.

I've been far too lazy to start playing with other linuxes cause that means I'd have to burn CDs and either risk my laptop or setup another computer to do so on. If I setup another computer I most likely wouldn't play much and I don't want to have something go wrong and lose my laptop's current configuration.

I'm feeling snacky.

With regards to the rest of the site. Do any of you have trouble with the blue links on the grey background? I got a bit of feedback saying that it was a bit difficult to see. I just want to get some more feedback confirming so before I start tweaking with the style sheet(s). I my self have no problem seeing it on any of my computers. But if others are having problems let the tweaking begin.

Weekend is here. I brought my crap home from work bypassing the propery pass paper work we need to fill out to get our crap out of the building. I did this by stuff it it all in my pockets. I think I had someplace around 18 pockets today. 6 on the pants and 12 in the SEV.

1 week of work left until free soda, gyms, and a small comute to my new place of work in Springfield at the big S with Nathan, Sean and Rob.
