It should have been done sooner as it was completed 2 years ago. But at last it will be relased on October 4th. It being the newest Fiona Apple CD the Extraordinary Machine. I can't help but wonder if a certain article on wired news may have been of help.
Yes I like some girl music. Shutup.
I fixed one annoyance with the new alarm setup yesterday. It now no longer locks the door everytime I drive. That annoyed the hell out of me. It is/was a safety feature and highly annoying. You drop someone all the doors have to unlock to let them out.
I tried teaching the unit my engine speed but it didnt make a diffrence so it just stops after its starts. I havent yet had a chance to poke around under the hood with my multi-meter to check connections and signals.... I have found a possible alternate location to get a tach signal. The alternate location will have to wait til chris is around again to run it by him.
Going to Seaside with Nathan tomorrow. Not sure whats going on other than video games. But it shoud be a decent time. Gonna get my camera ready tonight.
Stayed out too late car purchasing last night. Not for me, I am quite happy with my 11 Year old bavarian sweetheart..

So now my alarm and lights all work because Chris RULES! The remote start doesnt quite work yet but it almost works. I think I have found the problem for the remote start not working so now its just a matter of time before the time can be had to fix it or find a solution for it. It starts I just stops as soon as it starts. The theory I am working off of is the alarm/remote starter doesn't know it started so more wires need to be checked and maybe tapped or replaced.
The bad news is my inspection light came on. Meaning I can a do the inspection my self. B pay someone lots of money to do it right. Even though I don't have lots of money I'm gonna pay someone else to do it right. My bank account and over draft protection will hate me but it needs to be done. It helps a little that this my last month of having to pay deposite on my place.
So my car is worse off now than it was before we started. Down left tail light, left parking light, dome lights (still have the map lights), and down 1 alarm. Chris will be in town tonight as well so we are going to take another look at just about everything. Fuses the alarm connections, and the light switch which had a couple wires tugged upon while looking for other wires that had been missplaced durring the process.
It was a huge ordeal to do what little we did. Chris decided he wanted to use the exisiting taps so we had go buy new connectors and before we could do that we sniffed out the wires we would need to be taping. Once we found all those we couldn't go get the connectors we had to wait for the pizza Chris ordered. Then we got the connectors got back to Nathan's place around 8. Realized we needed to move the alarm because we dont have enough slack on the wires we have depsite the fact that was one of the 1st questions I asked.
Tonight we do it again. We may or may not get the remote start part going tonight. If we don't get my car at least fixed I am going to take it to Portland and Chris and I can work on it all day Saturday and some of sunday if we need to.
Chris did not make it into town in time to assist me with the intended plan last night. So we shall attempt the hook up of the remote start tonight. Assuming I get my ass outa work in time. Which is looking promising right about now. But that can change rather quickly. I'm quite excited of the prospect of being about to start my car via remote. Turn the heat and defrost on before I get out of my car at night and remote start it 10 or so min before I need to get in in the AM and I am greeted to a warm mostly thawed ride to work, totaly sweet.
I've got technical how to write up that I'm thinking about sharing with the world. I suppose I may want to see if there is already one of the same out there already. But that would just be too easy and make sense.
If Chris shows up in time today we are going to attempt to hook up the remote start on mein car.
Yesterday I played videogames, got stuff for wiring my remote start and got dinner at Roadhouse. I ordered a beer much too large. I always forget when they ask what size drink to not get the big one. The big is a 32Oz mason jar. I hadn't had anyhting to eat since around noon and this was around 9 I got this 32Oz of beer. So I ended up a little drunk...
Work starts again tomorrow which is sad. But not a big deal. Paid at the end of the week. Then I pay rent among other things. But after this paycheck I should have about $100 extra free every month as my deposites will be all paid up.
I am a day behind Nathan on replacement day who replaces batterys, windshield wipers, socks and who knows what else.
Today I just replaced my windshield wipers. The instructions actually said to run them dry for 5 min and do it every every once in a while. They were easier than I though they would be to install. And I should only have to replace them this time next year. Which seems about right considering how much I paid for them.
I keep thinking about tearing futher into my car again and hooking up the remote start and fining out for sure if stellar sent me the wrong, as in more expensive unit. That may happen this weekend, it may not.
One of if not my favorite fictonal charter is William Gibson's Molly Millions. She is a slightly modified girl. 1 inch razors can come out from under her fingernails. She has mirrored lenses where her eyes should be and she can see in the dark as well as the time all the time. Not to mention her lighting fast reflexes. All of these features are aftermarket. When she had her eyes done she had hear tear ducts routed to her mouth. When asked how she crys she responed "I spit".
I sweat. I ran tonight. I needed clarity. I needed to cry. I needed to feel. I needed to run. I cry with my body not with my eyes. It pours over me throug my hair over my face down my body. I am more than ready with this week and its drama to fucking end.
Yesterday Adam stopped by my desk and dropped a book off for me to read. It seems that the book to read has found me. I got through chapter 2 last night. So far a good read and non-fiction like I wanted.
Last night I worked on getting authentication groups going in apache. That was pretty much cake.
I've also realized that I don't have much love for Eugene. Salem I have some and some more for Portland. I lived in salem for most of my life so thats why the love for Salem. Portland has always been a treat or a fun trip often full of good memorys. Portland is beautiful, Tall and shiney in parts while other parts have old feeling and history to it. But the whole place is a buzz with trasit and comerce. While Eugene has very little that stands out as interesting or beautiful in my mind. Downtown is small and flat and dull with the exception of the bums and street kids who should get jobs or go to school. I bring all this up because I've been meaning to take more pictures and Eugene seems like the logical place to start, it's here making it cheaper than going to Portland or the Coast or anyplace else to take pictures. But I lack the love for the town to find the things worth photographing that I havent already. One of these evenings I will force my self to do it perhaps I will have a revalation or realization and or get lucky and get some decent shots of the city I live in.
Replaced the brake light socket on Nina thought about doing the wiper blades but did not. Because I would have to read the directions and prep them with their special sauce before installing them. So I just washed my windshield instead.
Cleaned my place up a bit.
I've been having the urge to do something geeky. Setup a new server tinker with my current server tweak my xbox to have media center load 1st. The problem is that would involve work and time and neither sound like something I want to do. So I'm stuck between and urge and lazyness.
I'm sleepy and its only 9.
Work was ok. My products lack documentaion. So I've written a couple docs and made a couple suggestestions to current docs to make them more helpful.
Gonna move some stuff around and set some stuff on my server maybe get things a little more organized. maybe not. Maybe I will just go to sleep. Mainly I need to rework some of the authentication schemes and file locations. Nothing big but nothing fun. Maybe I'll work on a script to do something else.
I'm home. Today not very eventful. Went to portland stood around cold most of the time. Came back.
I've tried workin on Nathan's router. It's acting busted we think "bricked" I imay have fix the brick before I work on it and get the networking going how it needs to be. It may be a diffrent story if i could find the device on the network but I can't so I can't do much. I signed up for configuration and if it won't talk to me to configure I can't make it. Maybe the WRT54g gets fixed next weekend or later in the week.
I got up way way to early. I am on my way to horse clinic thing in Portland. I think it is going to a long long day. Also I forgot the memory card for my camera which kinds sucks.
Looks like it's onset of oregon weather. I could be wrong but it was cloudy and mostly rainy today. I'm not sure if summer is over yet or not. But I miss it already. Can't wait until the next one and hopefuly get to do more fun stuff. Like back packing and more camping...
This summer I climbed, hiked, camped, swam, wakeboarded, and rafted. Now hopefuly fall and winter can be as good. But in diffrent ways. Maybe find a cabin or lookout to stay in for a weekend. Maybe snow boarding or skiing.
I've got nathans WRT54G to fix up for him. I plan on playing with that durring my designated play/project time tomorrow. Gonna use my linux skills and networking skills.
So I had always suspected putty could do cool things. I just didn't know how to make it do them. I saw putty used as a tunnel back to his *nix based server at home to access a windows remote desktop on another machine on the inside of his network. SOOO COOL! So I played around with the tunnels a little after I saw it and managed to access a couple things I previously could not from the out side. Super slick.
Wednesday is over. The week is more than halfway over. The month will be half way over tomorrow. Already I'm more than ready for weekend.
My place has no oven so i've been thinking about getting one of these Dealies which will pretty much do it all. Then I can at least make some cookies from a tube.
I've also managed to get invited to a horse clinic thingy on Saturday. I'm not sure if I'm going to go or not. As I'd have to get up early to make it. And it sounds like some of the antendies will have plenty on their plate for Saturday anyways so I may just relax for the day or find some other projects/people/things that need my attention. Not sure though I would definatly learn something at the clinic.
Got the upper left of my face drilled on and filled in. Then had a calzone at BJ's pretty good I didn't even droll or spill beer on my self with my numb left upper lip.
The little bit of solder on the light socket seems to have fixed the brake light issue for now. But I have new sockets on the way just as a more long term/perminate fix.
I had a couple reports my right brake lights were acting up. Mainly that one light was too bright or that another was too dim. I had a friend step on the brake for me. I noticed the right light was also slow to come on and dim. So I checked the bulb it looked ok. But diffrent than it's opposite. So I decided to replace it anyways. So I pull the bulb again today in the daylight and notice the socket is damaged. So I've ordered a replacement. I also put some solder on the one I have one to hopefuly improve the connection.
Went shooting yesterday. I almost want to get a pistol mainly because they harder to hit your mark with. I managed to hit most of my marks after a few shots with a couple pistolsyesterday.
At 3:20 I go see the dentist and he drills on my teeth some.
So today we may get to go shooting assuming everyones plans line up. Last weekend they kept chaning so it never quite worked out. Works out for the better too cause this time we have 2 more people goin with us.
So yesterday I helped Adam get some more stuff configured on his server. Prior to going to Adam's I setup a mindTerm page. I also put the laptop I took apart last weekend back together, I do have a few scews left over. I also brushed Murray's teeth as hi gums looked kinda nasty and his teeth seemed like they needed it as well.
The Ducks play today. I've been invited to couple games later in the season on someone elses season ticket. I don't really care for football but I'm going to go. I will at least be in good company. It may be a good time or it may not be.
I will most likely be making game days into project days for me. Maybe cleaning my place up, hooking things up, configuring things, breaking things, building things, fixing things, cleaning things, going places, taking photos, etc...
At work I've been moved to a queue at work with no small biz callers. The second half of friday was pretty good I could just watch the small biz morons sit on hold while waiting for someone to help them. The new products are not too bad to support.
Some people are starting to get training for linux. They had some people looking for people who already know linux. I ended up with my name on some list Adam was one of the people asking around so I could not have avoided the list if I had wanted to. Hopefuly it's a good thing....
Speaking of work I need/want to look into tuition reimbursement. Maybe look into some classes at the local community/Jr. college. Not more than 2 maybe 3 classes at once if I do decide to return to academics.
I'm glad tomorrow is Friday.
Nothing happening. Work was OK. I'm becoming numb to overtime. I do get a little anxious to get going around 6.
There is a new ipod it comes in black, which would match my car. Maybe I should get an ipod interface for my car for this sweet new ipod.
Recently I've been poking around atStumptown Confidential. Interesting stuff. Think of it as Portland then and some of Portland now. Facinating stuff.
Another good one is Portland Ground which is primarily a large collection of photos of many of the areas in Portland.
Flickr has been getting popular. It's fun to just hit it with a word or two and see what comes back as a result. Wonder what kind of hacks there are out there for flickr.
As with picasa I don't see much of a reason for me to use the services/programs my self. I started with my own system of photo orginaization over 4 years ago. I cannot add all sorts of extra "meta data" like these applications but it also means I don't need an application to read or input the meta data. I'm sorta old school. I want to keep my files oraganized on the file level not at another level like a Database. I could see a combinatio of the 2 but now that I have over 6 gigs of images stored, mostly sorted and I woudlnt want to go and add data for the thousands of other images.
If one of these services offers me something I my self cannot do or provide or something I need I may sign up.
I have been charged with the repair of a laptop. The problem is it doesn't want to open enough for me to get to the problem to see if I can fix it. And forcing my way in may cause other problems later. So I'm going to start by recovering the data. Then will see about getting it apart for a while longer...
Around 12:30 I'm gonna go with Nathan to help Rob move. His 3rd move in the last 6 months I belive. Which is way too many times for even a span of a few years.
Helped Adam from work setup a server. Got the basics going for him so far. I think much more will come once he gets more stuff for his server like storage space and things to do with it. He got him self a 4 port KVM a decent mouse and a network card last night to get everthing working as needed. So the badcommand network has gained another server.
I'm thinkin about goin' to see the Transporter 2 this weekend at some point.
Got the new bavauto catalog. Damn there is some tempting stuff in there. Too bad or good thing I'm too poor to get any of it right now.
I want to take more pictures of more things and work on the craft. The problem is finding the time and money for photo excursions. Chris and I used to have them all the time when we both still lived in salem and worked part time. We knew of cheap and free places to go. Down here I'm not so familar.
I think another problem is a feel a slight stigma or at least a little embarassed wondering around some places with my camera, camera bag, and camera type gear. Sometimes it doesn't matter other times I just don't feel like it. Something I should just do anyways. I've missed a lot of shots because of lasyness.
