Ordered a lamp today. Once It shows up I'm gonna rip the crap out of it and put my new color changing LED into it and have what I presume to be the only PC/Programmable lamp on the block.
Upgraded to mysql 4.1.somethingorother from 3.2 on my primary badcommand server today. It went pretty smoothly. It wasn't with out a snag or two but those were easy enough to take care of once I checked the logs for the failure reasons.
This has zero affect on anything here at junknstuff.net and only affects a couple things on the badcommand server. In case anyone cares... which they don't.
I slept most of the weekend sleeping. I'm feeling much much better than I was on Friday/Saturday.
I've been having to do a really stupid training at work recently. I've been spacing it out over a couple weeks cause it's just that painful to do. Some of the stuff is ass-backwards from the way it has been done for years here. But now it must change because a vp has bee in his bonnet... With any luck he will go away and/or things will go back to normal.
So I'm still sickish. Getting better, at least I like to think that I am. Been doing lots of sleeping and fluids. I could most stand to sleep a bit more but then I may not sleep tonight which would be annoying.
The weather is rainy and crappy out, cold and rainy. But really it should be expected to be like this for another month or two, well at least the rainy part. I was hoping to maybe wash my car as it's been a few weeks and it's damn dirty but it might be for the best that I can't anyways as I'm not exactly feeling great...
I've had another idea for a photo project. I may start on it soonish. I may wait until the weather is better.
My mess of geek parts showed up. The RGB LED and controller arrived. I plugged it in briefly just to see it go. It's pretty damn bright. I've still got to hook it to a computer and get a heatsink for the LED. I should also figure out some enclosure for the whole setup as well. I'd like to keep it pretty modular and flexible.
I'm still not feeling super well. But I'm more rested than I was yesterday.
So my location was moved by 20ft or less yesterday. My supervisor came by and said not to get comfortable because my counterpart and I will be moving back to the row we were just on and there is a 50% chance I will end up in the cube I just moved out of yesterday. This may happen as early as next week.
I think I might be coming down with a cold. Perhaps I shouldn't have gone out with a bunch of work friends for drinks and food last night. I had some trouble getting to sleep because of a headache too so I'm not feeling particularly rested today. I'm gonna try to take it easy for the next couple evenings and see if I can prevent this thing from flooring me or making me miss work.
Today I moved my desk all of 20 feet from my old desk, I miss my old desk.
Spent the part of the day geeking around with a computer Chris dropped of for me. It is to placed at his parents place and will provide Chris a way in to remote desktop in and make backups of files for them etc etc. But the web interface for the product is not near as mature as it should be considering the version of the product is 3.0. The web interface doesn't have facility's to allow one to specify which machines and folders/files should be backed up. Meaning someone must logon and edit an ugly text file with something like vi or emacs. This isn't something Chris would be comfortable with nor his parents. So I shall look for another solution or scrap the backup feature from the box. So to the folks at backup pc please work on the interface to make it more usable.
Took some pictures on Saturday and Sunday. Today has no solid plans yet. Chris is supposed to be in town sometime today. When I'm not sure. Plans for when Chris arrives are not soild yet either. Also been spending lots of time with Melanie.
In other news my hosting company has upgraded their webmail interface it's pretty slick now. It can sync contacts and stuff with outlook which I may end up doing as it would allow the contacts in my cellphone to be backed up on an offsite server and accessible pretty much anyplace I can get online.
I just ordered a mess of parts from rgbled a RGB controller and a high power LED and a couple other parts. Computer controllable I'm thinking maybe use it for photography or something else fun maybe just build a interesting light fixture/lamp/something.
So I was poking around in my ancient movable type install on junknstuff.net last night. I discovered something I wish I hadn't. Somehow all the data in the database between January 29th 2006 to July 1st 2006 is gone. I found the missing entrys as web pages. I'm not sure if im going to restore the data or not as it will take quite some time to do. Restoring from backup isn't an option as they don't have back ups that go that far back and I don't have a backup of my own that covers that time span.
This one is photographic in nature.
The more time one spends on either side of the camera the more comfortable they will be on the opposite side of the camera lens.
While this may not be true for all people I think it's pretty solid.
Some clarification:
someone who spends a lot of time in front of a lens like a model may not know how to work the camera immediately but they will most likely know how to get their model to do what they want and ways of composing the shot.
Many who spend a lot of time behind the lens end up taking self portraits and some point and just more comfortable around cameras and develop a different relationship with it from the other side.
I added my credit card to Amazon and ordered the 30D it should be here tomorrow. Yes I opted for next day delivery for $25.
I'm still waiting for most of my tax money. I got my state return which was only $138 but I couldn't wait any longer.
Still waiting for tax moneys to order camera. I could just put it on a credit card and pay it all back, but that would ultimately be more work as I would have to add the credit card to amazon which could be a liability for me later on. But I may do it anyways cause I want that damn camera.
I'm taking some survey thing later today with Melanie. They are gonna give me $150 to spend a few hours answering questions of some sort...
Went to a funeral yesterday. I'm not sure what else to say about it. It was a good service considering the circumstances.
Chris (E) seemed to be doing pretty well. My heart goes out to him/his family and everyone else involved.
Also delivered my old Digital Rebel to Chris (W) yesterday so until I get my 30D I've only got my Nikon L4.
So I found out I'm getting a rather decent tax return this year. So I'm getting a new camera. I'll be getting a Canon so I can keep using my current lenses and be selling my rebel to Chris for a what we both consider a fair price. Then I will order my 30D.
