In A Week.

A week from now, I will still be in Oregon. But I won't be working I will preparing to leave for Las Vegas, maybe even driving North to Chris' place.

Chris called me about 10minutes ago and gave me the update on where we are staying and how much it's going to costs. I maybe giving people IOUs for Christmas gifts this year if the costs keep going up like they have been. Or use credit...

Energy Levels are Kinda Low Lately...

I think I need to increase my activity level. Lately I've been low on energy and lately I've been less active as well.

The thing is I really don't like the cold so I stay indoors and more sediment. Sure I could use the gym at work but I'm not gonna get there early to use it, nor will I want to stay late to use it. Nor do I want to use the gym at work while they have a bunch of people in there... As much as I dislike the idea I may start driving over there in the evenings...

Vegas Confirmed

Going to Las Vegas for the 2nd weekend of December with Chris, Jana and Andrea. Should be fun. Timing could be better considering that I should be buying gifts for my dearest of friends and family. It should be a good time nonetheless.

I may replace the head on my tripod for this trip. As currently it has no tripod and well I may want to take some shots that would call for a longer exposure that would be impossible or very difficult to hand hold with out an IS lens (which i don't have). So that would only make the month that much more expensive but hopefully worth it...

De-Alarmed

So I turned my alarm off Wednesday night so I didn't wake up during early hours on Thanksgiving or Black Friday. I never turned it back on so I over slept by nearly 45 minutes this morning... The Alarm has since turned back on... Five days of work my be a bit too many this week. We should really work back up to a five day week.

Triptophan Naps Coming Soon

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Tomorrow is also the start of a four day weekend. It'll be nice for another little mini vacation, even though I've got nothing planned aside from heading to Salem to spend time with the family for Thanksgiving.

There might be a trip to Vegas for me in the near future. Chris is interim IT manger for his company until they hire a replacement for the person who left. So he will be making trips down there just about weekly for a few weeks to come. So making a weekend+some out of it may be in order.

The Artificially Enhanced Leagues

I don't really watch any professional sports. I don't even pay attention to college teams. Which is nearly a crime considering I live in a college town. But with all the scandals and allegations around performance enhancing drugs I figure it is time for a new league of sports.

This new league of sports is for the athletes on the juice/roids/whatever performance enhancers they want. The Artificially Enhanced League's football players would giant and the sport would be more brutal than ever, maybe not any better. The league's Baseball players would be hit more home runs than anyone else. We can make the fields bigger for all the sports and the balls heavier.

If someone in the regular pros got busted for using performance enhancing drugs or substances they would just be moved to the AEL no questions asked. Still haven't quite worked out if someone in the AEL could be moved to the regular pros if clean for certain period of time or not. I'm leaning towards no. The only endorsement deals would be for athletic equipment and apparel providers, like Nike or Nautilus.

I see this as a win win. The people who insist on abusing their bodies get to abuse their bodies and compete against others doing the same, so the playing field is leveled. The public would have a whole new levels of competition to watch on their weekends and evenings. The athletes could keep making stupid amounts of money. Sure an athlete's career in the AEL my be short lived, because of complications from the chemical cocktails they take or an injury brought on by enhanced levels of competition, but they chose to be there by using performance enhancing substances.

But I still wouldn't watch any more sports than I do now. Just my idea for a solution and maybe make some people some money and level the playing fields. The proper pros can play clean and the rest can play against their own.

Blinds

So last three days at work we have come in to find the window blinds closed. Sure we just open them back up. But it isn't as easy as it may sound. You see once the blinds are closed the string to re open them is at the top of the window. The top of the window is nine to twelve feet off the ground. The procedure requires a two man team or stick with a hook, which was taken by whom ever puts the windows down.

The procedure involves a spotter/booster and a grabber (me). The spotter/booster gives me a hand by stabilize me while I setup on to the lower window sil and allowing me to push off of their hand with mine to get up right as I have nothing else to push against or stabilize my self with while the blinds are down. Once I'm standing on the lower window sil I reach up with whatever arm is available and grab the ring on the string to raise the blinds and then proceed to jump down to open the blinds.

We have attempted to toss the string onto the top of the drop ceiling to prevent the perpetrators from lowering the blinds again but it didn't work. Today we tried taping and tying one of the strings up so the blinds can't drop as much. We won't know if it worked until tomorrow. If not we have more drastic measures we can resort to.

Things Done and Not Done

I did laundry yesterday. Good to get that done and out of the way as I had been putting it off as long as I could and was running out of clothes to wear.

I also saw American Gangster. Great movie. Damn Riddley Scott can direct and make a beautiful film. Seriously. I think officially my favorite director. I do like Michale Mann a lot too, but his films are great to just watch and see but story/plot never feels as good or as well done.

Today I slept in and finished putting laundry away.

Things not done
Haven't washed my car yet and the weather is pretty decent and was yesterday too and my car could use a washing. Just not feeling motivated.

Didn't go to Portland/Vancouver so no Ultimate Frisbee which is a bit of a letdown.

Didn't setup a backup system for my photos/other data. Have been planning on getting cygwin and rsync setup to take care of backups from my desktop to my server but just haven't been properly motivated to sit down in front of my PC and do it. I tried a couple things on my laptop as tests but they didn't work out.

So maybe during the week I'll get the car washing done and the backup thing taken care of. Next Sunday I will do frisbee cause I'm going to heading north for a friends wedding on Saturday.

We were both kind of hoping for a diffrent place but this was the only one open this year for that time. But we are both more than OK with going back, as it is an awesome place to go for a couple days.

Fog Fog Fog

Since I got home Sunday night the Eugene/Springfield area has been encased in a shell of fog. No day light, no moon light, no starts, no sky just grey fog. I don't know what the weather was like here on Sunday day but in Portland it was sunny with clear skies and relatively warm as well. The less than stellar weather should help keep me indoors so I can recover a bit quicker.

Requested to Go Remote

So my manager came by and requested that I work remotely later this week and maybe part of next week. It's part of some disaster recovery test/drill/plan or something. The test is kinda lame but hell I get to work from wherever I want as long as I have good internet access... Could be fun.

Shifting Times

Its my normal bed time. But I'm not really that tired despite playing a marathon game of Ultimate Frisbee today, and staying out late Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. I suppose its that extra hour of sleep today.

I do think I may have slightly over done things this weekend as I may be coming down with or have a cold. I've got a runny nose and been sneezing a bit as well. But I still feel pretty good.

Liver is Doomed.

I'm not sure my liver is ready for this weekend. But it will have all week to recover... Last night was a pizza cook off party with a bunch of the frisbee people. There was plenty of drinking and pizza, really good time. Then tonight is Alex's bachelor party which will also include drinking. I don't think I over did it last night as I'm feeling pretty good today. Aside from Chris' neighbor blasting the same music over and over again all damn night.
