What I did about my gear was left the camera bag in the car along with a lens and the flash. Though I could have brought it in and stashed it with the band's stuff. I ended up putting two lenses in my pockets and switching out between the 50mm F1.8 and 18-55mm kit lens, I didn't use the 200mm F2.8 at all.
I am pretty pleased with quite a few of the shots.
Doing another shoot tonight, for the guys I did one with last week. This time it will be them in action at a show. I've seen several concert shots on flickr with cameras like or similar to mine, and think I should be able to get some nice shots just by increasing the ISO, I'm hoping to keep the ISO below 1000 and planning to try and use my primes, like my 50mm F1.8 and maybe get some close ups with the 200mm F2.8L.
I'm actually still puzzling of what to do about all my gear. Pack a couple lenses in my pockets? Sling the bag over my shoulder and have the whole kit on me? Bring the whole bag in and leave it at my seat/spot and risk it? I'm going to be showing up a while before the band goes on so I'll have a chance to figure that bit out I suppose. Maybe they can hook me up with a spot.
Last Wednesday evening I spent a couple hours taking a few shots for a local band. I have now been paid to take photos. I will be paid again for taking photos sometime in the near future as I am to shoot their show this coming weekend. What am I going to do with the fruits of my labor? Likely buy myself a new piece of gear.
The new piece of gear though still escapes me. I've been wanting to get another flash for sometime now. I had been thinking a Canon 430EXII or another 580EXII, however for less than that I can pick up a big strobe or two from Alien Bees. But they are a bit more cumbersome and more at home in a studio, and very manual. But are quite expandable and plenty good work with.
Heat
The weather has finally cooled. Hell its been borderline sweatshirt weather the last couple of days. Which has been nice, but I would have been just as fine with mid 70s or lower 80s.
Projects
Kala is getting ready to start a new blog. I'm kind of excited to help her out on this as it sounds like it's going to a ongoing project with some tasty results as well.
I've possibly got my self some photos to take of/for some strangers in the near future and have the possibility of getting paid as well which is also quite exciting.
