Hacking the ride.

As some of us know I've rencently become an owner of a 94' BMW 325i. This car has some geektental. It is prewired for an alarm system, built very soild like and has plenty of places to hide fun bits and pieces.

It has been prewired for an alarm. This along with some of the information avaliable makes it possible to build and program a computer interface to the secuirty system. Allowing for a handheld computer with the right hardware and/or software to talk to the computer to inteface with the secuirty system to inturn roll windows up or down and lock and unlock the doors maybe even on a schedule or by proximty of the handheld or a bluetooth enabled cellphone. You get within 10 or so feet (determined by the stegth of the bluetooth signal) and doors unlock, leave that permiter and doors lock again.

As long as a computer is going to be working with the alarm why and bluetooth, why not see if it can handle the hands free feature of the bluetooth enabled phone as well. Lets not forget the bluetooth data features of the phone that could allow the computer to use the phone to grab information like direcstions, maps, weather, and email. The primary problem with that bit is location of the display of the information. But not undoable by any means.

Now I'd love nothing more than to have the proper skills and money to accomplish such a thing. I do have the vison though. Perhaps I wouldn't do it all to my car as I am squeemish about doing such a thing to mine at this point maybe later. If you want to do something like this or have please post, comment , email me, call me, something. This could be too much fun and maybe even profitable someday.

Infected?

Alright all you techno tards and barely literate users. STOP CLICKING ATTACHMENTS!

The most recent wave of worms to come out have all taken advantage of our inquiziative nature. These e-mails come with a cryptic message and an attachment that may lead one to belive that the really message is the attachment. When infact it is a nasty little virus that goes nuts once you click on it. Often searching your system for anything that looks like and e-mail address and then sending it self to that address and anyothers that it finds.

I don't belive computers should be sold/given away as they are. Right now any tard can go to the store and buy a computer. Now they get one of these e-mail worms that sends it self around and out to everyone it can. Now said tard does not have any kind of virus protection. How is customer to ever know his computer is doing something it shouldnt? Needless to say it can take a while, so all the time he doesn't know his computer is spewing out e-mails to his friends and lovedones and they can't tell where the fuck it is coming from because the worm fakes its e-mail address. Now if someone has antivirus software that is uptodate and running properly it will stop the attachment before the stupid user can even click on it.

Now attachments are not the only way to get a virus. There are vulerablitys in windows that are a problem too. Anyone rember the blaster worm from last summer? well it took advantage of a Remote Procedure Call vuln. in windows and then you were infected just from being connected to the internet. Now this vulnerablity is the equivlent to door with a key in the lock keeping the robbers out. Microsoft found the problem and relased a patch for this problem in June of last year. The outbreak was in July and August, hell we still see this virus today. Why? Because noone performs system maintnace like they should. Run your windows updates as step one to protect your self. This is a very easy process and windows can even be configured to do it for you so you don't have to strain your brain to click on ok or figure out what updates you need. There are many other virues that take advantage of weeknesses of windows but many of the weeknesses have been addressed by Microsoft. So protect your computer by updating your OS.

I am ammazed every day by how many people have been infected with something. I live life on the edge. I do not run Anti Virus software on any of my home computers. Many think this is stupid. Well maybe but if it is why do i not have any viures? I run a online scan from symantec every so often and it comes up clean every single time. How is this possible, you ask.

1) Hardware firewalls they keep virues that would be taking advantages of the vulerbitly in windows at bay because they havent been told to allow that type of traffic in. So even if i didn't have my windows updates (which I do) I wouldn't get blaster, welchia, or gaobot etc... (software firewalls do a good job too)

2) I don't open attachments that are suspicous looking from people i don't know.

3) I don't go to strange and suspicous type websites that can infect me. Yes you can get a virus from going to some web sites.

That is really about it.

Now if you had to take a test and pass with a score of oh say over 80% then you can have a computer or at least a licence to use one. Why the hell not we have to take a test to drive a car. If you do something stupid perhaps we send you to computing school and give you a refresher. Perhaps a fine too.

I am going to end this rant now but there may be more later on.
